Great resource Susan! Excited to see where this online dialogue goes!
Anybody interested in sharing what you're "passionate" about, why you've joined, or what you hope for with all of this "Colorado Sustainable Initiative" talk - what's it mean for you?
I'm excited about hearing other people's ideas, solutions, and also working collaboratively together to bring about change in big and small ways.
Looking to discuss and choose a problem to solve with some others and then work on solving it with what resources we have and can access.
Let me know if you have any ideas.
One idea I'm working with currently...
We are looking for web development support with a local/national sustainable bike initiative called re:volution - a bicycle trip for sustainability research and community engagement from Alaska to Argentina, beginning on August 1, 2008 and ending February, 2010. Looking for OpenSource Joomla, Drupal, etc. support.
My line of interests are along the interactive, web, digital media lines of community development, social justice, and sustainable initiatives. Integrating best practices throughout print, web, and human interactions.
Hey T, Thanks for starting this thread. :) Here are some of my thoughts to add to the mix.
Sustainability is a very very broad topic. By narrowing this networking-community site to focus on sustainability related to graphic design, and keeping it Colorado-centered, I'm hoping it can gain more traction rather than trying to be everything green to everyone.
Even within these two bands of sustainability, there is still a ton of stuff to consider. I hope this will be a useful educational tool for information/research with links and articles. I hope it will also be interesting enough with sustainability events, happenings, photos that it will perpetuate itself and keep the dialogue going for our Colorado community.
Cheers!
Eric Kornaki is still rolling with the re:vision project but due to funding is focusing locally, which is sweet for all of us designer/developers. The bike trip was a work towards the end goal, and just wasn't feasabile at this time.
New goal: Make Denver the most Sustainable City in America, and yes, you and any others can help!
